Rare French platinum and natural pearl 52 inch muff chain, circa 1800’s.

Exceedingly rare antique French platinum and natural pearl muff/guard chain. Beautifully made with 18 x 2.5mm natural pearls equally Interspace. This chain would of been the top of the range in terms of quality in the 19th century, and very few were made making it truly rare today. Platinum was only ever used in sparse quantities in high end jewellery, and normally silver would of been the only alternative in the 19th century. Under magnification you can see the faint out line of the French (hawk) hallmark. This piece is in excellent condition with no visible repairs and no worn out links. It can be worn as a double strand or can be worn with a pendant.
