Exceptional sterling silver tankard made by silver smith John Scofield of London 1772. Engraved with a crescent moon on top of the domed hinged lid, open work design thumb-piece over double scroll handle with baluster form body on circular raised foot. ( photos form part of the description )

* In the mid Georgian period two essential registers were lost, namely the 1739-1758 small workers‘ Register and the 1758- 1773 Large workers’ register.

The makers name would of been registered in the latter register being hallmarked in 1773. Circumstantial evidence indicates this hall mark to be John Scofield.

Condition: Exellent.

*Crested on lid.
